Cooper is a golden retriever who had been abandoned by his first owners. He was picked up by Dungannon pound in Northern Ireland.
The animal quickly found a new home. The new owner already had a dog, a female golden retriever, Molly. What might be better than having a traveling companion, moreover of the same race? But when Nigel, Cooper’s new master, brought the animal home on April 1, he immediately ran away. “I tried to chase him away, but he disappeared in an instant, so the search began”explains the man to the local media.
Nigel, determined gets in touch with Lost Paws NIan organization that deals with the search for missing pets.
Cooper wanted to find his old masters
After 27 days without news from Cooper, Nigel is contacted… The animal has been found but not just anywhere! The dog was spotted in Tobermore, a town some 40 kilometers from Nigel’s home. The golden retriever had come all this way to find his first owners who had abandoned him.
”He is safe now, he eats small meals to regain strength and weight”, says Nigel. The spokesperson for Lost Paws NIexplains to the”Irish Mirror”: “Cooper is a smart dog, his instincts led him back to a place he was familiar with… How he did it, I’ll never know, but he did it. No food, no shelter, no help, just dogged determination and that amazing nose”.
