Bipolar Feminine “Proficient”
Leni Ulrich, Jakob Brejcha, Samuel Reisenbichler and Max Ulrich have written an anti-hymn to our capitalist meritocracy. Self-sabotage, self-criticism, lack of boundaries and the adoption of toxic social conventions make us feel like we are not enough. Result: never resting and constantly having to work on yourself. Musically, Bipolar Feminin sound like an updated and slightly angrier version of Tocotronic. Responsible for the sound is FAZO666FAZO, who is known in the Austrian music scene as a drummer of the baits and producer of countless projects. The Bipolar Feminin album will be released on May 19th on the legendary German label Buback.
Florence + The Machine – „Mermaids“
The English band recently re-released their album “Dance Fever” (2022) in a deluxe version. Along with some ‘poem versions’ of their hits, there is also a new song on the album entitled ‘Mermaids’. Fans are already speculating that the song was written for the live-action adaptation of The Little Mermaid. Singer Florence Welch opened up in an interview last year that for as long as she can remember, she’s always wanted to be a mermaid. “Mermaids” is great musical pathos: driving beats, polyphonic vocals with a maximum portion of reverb & a fat brass section. It’ll raise our little hairs on June 16th at the Lido Sounds Festival in Linz.
Freekind – „Carry You“
The Slovenian-Croatian duo, who met while studying jazz at the famous Austrian University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz, produces hits non-stop. “Carry You” is very reminiscent of the Y2K R’n’B sound of D’Angelo, Lauryn Hill & Erykah Badu. Freekind wrote the song as a declaration of war once morest depression, to leave personal experiences behind and to look to the future with optimism. Her debut album, Since Always And Forever, is out June 9th.
Returns Reiner – „Bialetti“
Our FM4 Soundpark Act of the Month April Resi Reiner has written a love song for her “pride”: her Bialetti espresso machine. “We meet in the morning at the kitchen table, no matter how hectic everything is, we’ve already experienced a lot together.” Resi Reiner, who started her career in Graz as a child actress, makes cheesy-sweet indie hits with a good dose of humor and self-mockery. Bialetti is not only the perfect soundtrack for the FM4 Morning Show, but will also be part of our charts starting next week. How high Resi will climb is up to you.
