“Motorist Hits Group of Cyclists in France: Updates on the Injured Belgian Cyclist’s Condition”

A motorist knocked down a group of Belgian and French cyclists on Thursday evening in Genech, in the north of France. We told you regarding it on RTL Info. The dramatic accident injured several people, three of them seriously. Among them, Paul, a 28-year-old Belgian from Brunehaut (Hainaut). This Saturday, his state of health is still considered worrying. He was operated on for the second time, in particular for a new haemorrhage in the femur. The humerus was also programmed during this operation. Paul was awakened and then plunged back into a coma following the operation. His parents were unable to see him yesterday, but have regular contact with the Lille CHR, where their son has been treated since Thursday evening.

Paul’s dad testified on Friday in the RTL info: “It was a real strike I was told. It’s incredible: how can you leave your trajectory like that on a straight line? It’s unforgivable inattention.”



A couple were traveling on a country road in a white car when the driver swerved to the left and hit the group of ten cyclists. The group was made up of French and Belgian cyclists from Templeuve and Tournai.

An investigation was opened by the Douai prosecutor’s office and entrusted to the gendarmerie company of the North sub-prefecture. She will need to determine why the car was on the wrong side of the road.
