Awareness among people regarding ecology is growing over the years. Today, we appreciate natural, unprocessed food products more, we choose biodegradable packaging. We give up plastic bags and straws in favor of reusable bags and these straws in a metal version. We are not impressed by colorful products, because we feel the satiety of Western luxurious (as we once thought) life. Unfortunately, clothes made of ecological materials are not our first choice. Why are we still wearing plastic?

Ecological materials, or what?
Ecological materials do not only mean that they are made of naturally occurring raw materials. To talk regarding an ecological procedure, one should also look at the way the clothes are produced. Unfortunately – even the most cotton blouse will not be eco-friendly if it is not made in a sustainable way.
Surely you have heard many times that cotton is 100% natural, and thus – eco. Unfortunately not! Well, the production of cotton material requires huge amounts of water, which has a real impact on the economy and the economy, as well as the quality of life of the people who live close to the plantation. In addition to cultivation, harmful chemicals and fertilizers are used that threaten the ecology. This is not the end – during the processing and creation of clothes, cotton material is subjected to chemical treatments – including dyeing. There are other forms of cotton cultivation that produce so-called organic cotton, so make your next choice an organic cotton dress. Then you will gain confidence that what you do for the planet really makes sense.
However, if you are at the beginning of your eco-path, you do not need to know what materials are really ecological. It is clear! Below you will find a list of materials whose production is in harmony with nature. And you, from today when shopping for clothes, start checking the labels on clothes – make a habit of it!
- organic cotton – grown by hand, without artificial fertilizers and chemicals;
- lyocell – another natural material that is made of cellulose, is recyclable many times. Its cultivation and processing is much more ecological than cotton;
- linen – great, natural material! Antibacterial, hypoallergenic and with thermoregulatory properties – in the summer it pleasantly cools the skin and reduces the penetration of sunlight, you can find Polish crops;
- hemp fabric – 100% biodegradable material with similar properties to linen.
Natural materials provide comfort for you and your skin. They let her breathe while being in harmony with nature. Clothes today take up a huge percentage of the world’s waste, and it will take hundreds of years to decompose. That is why it is so important that we look at what the things we buy are made of.
Stylish Second Circuit!
Consumerism has created a demand for newer and newer clothes. What is fashionable today will be outdated tomorrow. This rush drives us to keep buying. And new clothes are piling up on our shelves, wardrobes are bursting at the seams. Some things we never even put on. Others break following one wear. What to do when minimalism doesn’t play in our soul?
Fall in love with stylish second-hand clothes. Used clothing stores can surprise you with real pearls. There you will find branded things, sometimes brand new. Often made of stunning materials for little money. Even if you catch your eye on a sweater made of artificial materials, you will still be doing something good for the planet – you will not buy another thing that will drive production.
There is a great trend of recycling old clothes. Some chain stores have introduced a campaign in which you give back used clothes and get a voucher with a certain amount of money to be used for their assortment. Great solution! And from these old clothes, new designs are later created. As you can see, there are many ways to be eco.
