New material for Hollywood filmmakers: A wild chase in the US state of Florida caused a sensation. A criminal duo stole a Tesla Model 3. However, they did not get far.
A high-speed car chase broke out on the streets of Florida recently. Two armed suspects tried to flee police in a white Lexus. They probably ran out of gas, because at some point they started looking for another getaway car.
Their first target, a Genesis G80, wasn’t that easy to crack. Apparently, the driver of the luxury sedan refused to open his door. The suspect, who exited the Lexus 2-door, ran back to the getaway vehicle and the duo continued their escape in the originating vehicle. Meanwhile, the police stayed on their heels, reports Inside EVs.
Model 3 owner is pulled out of his car at gunpoint
Moments later, however, one of the gunmen approaches a white Tesla Model 3. He opens the driver’s door and tells the man inside to get out of the car – at gunpoint. The Tesla owner complies with the car thief’s requests. The gunman then fled in the vehicle. The victim is left shaking in the middle of the road. He tries to call his wife with his Apple Watch since his phone is still in the stolen car.
Crazy Tesla ride: Even a duck was involved
Fortunately, no one was injured in the chase. The police finally managed to ram the stolen Tesla and stop it. After initially appearing as if the car thief was regarding to give up, he suddenly fled on foot, swam through a canal and continued to flee, shooing a duck in front of him (the animal was unharmed). Eventually, the man turned himself in, wearing only his underpants, and left a garage where he had been hiding with his hands raised. It is not known why he only wore his underpants.
There are still some unanswered questions regarding the case. However, the course already sounds like good material for an action film.
