Wien Energie has trapped its customers!

Fritz Pöltl (FCG-ÖAAB): “Appeal to Mayor Ludwig: The partial amounts currently charged must be adjusted to the new gas price immediately!”

Vienna (OTS) Although international gas prices have recently fallen sharply and are currently back to around the level of late autumn 2021, Wien Energie is demanding the partial amounts set by the price explosion in the previous year from its customers, despite record profits. Concrete example: Instead of 256.60 euros in 2022, 579.60 euros have been charged since 2023. That’s 125 percent more!

The trap snaps shut

“Anyone who believed that, given the current gas prices, the partial amounts collected by Wien Energie would be reduced, is very wrong,” criticizes Fritz Pöltl, Chairman of the FCG-ÖAAB parliamentary group in AK-Vienna, regarding Wien Energie’s dubious business policy at the backs of the Viennese. Fritz Poltl:
“Michael Strebl, CEO of Wien Energie, also defends the price gouging by blaming his customers for it in interviews.” are bound for a year!”

Cheaper for new customers

Fritz Pöltl: “That is an unabashed statement that actually disqualifies the managing director of the 100 percent city operation. Customers were lured into a trap by Wien Energie with the ‘cheaper OPTIMA relaxed tariff’. While the kilowatt hour of gas is now only 10.3 cents on average internationally, Wien Energie still charges its customers three times the rate, namely 31 cents”.

Mayor needs help

Fritz Pöltl: “And now there’s even a Strebl action:
New customers get the gas under the name “Optima relaxed” even half cheaper. Only the old customers who have remained loyal to the Viennese company are allowed to pay double the partial amounts. A whole year long! This is not business policy, Herr Mayor, it borders on usury! Wien Energie’s customers aren’t cash cows.”
