Adriana Díaz culminated today, Friday, her participation in the World Table Tennis Star Contender event that is held in Bangkok, Thailand, by falling in the women’s semifinal once morest the Chinese Xingtong Chen, in the maximum of five sets.

The Puerto Rican fell in the first set, 11-6, but recovered in the second, which she dominated, 11-8.

For the third, Chen came back very aggressive and took an early 6-0 rally, which was impossible for Diaz to recover. Even though she came close, 8-5, Chen called time out and, coming back, she stopped the Puerto Rican’s momentum and scored the three points needed to take the third set, 11-5.

However, Díaz would not make it easy for him. The roles were reversed in the fourth chapter and, with a good game through the corners, the Utuadeña tied the hostilities, 11-5.

It all came to a head in the fifth, but Chen gave her speed, mainly on serve, and took an early 7-2 lead, heading to dominate the fifth and decisive set, 11-4.

The winner will now face the Korean Cheonhui Joo for the women’s final.

Díaz defeated American Lily Zhang in four sets, 11-8, 9-11, 11-5 and 11-6.
