Antonine University’s Wellness and Mental Health Week – Turn Your Ill-being Into Well-being

Under the auspices of the Ministry of Public Health, the Antonine University (UA) inaugurated the Wellness and Mental Health Week – Turn Your Ill-being Into Well-being in its third edition. This health week included 23 workshops, which were presented by a number of experts from Canada, the United States of America, Japan, Britain, Germany and Lebanon.

In this context, the President of the Antonine University, Father Michel Jalkh, stressed that “the impact of crises on the psychological health of our students calls us to confront them, because the university does not only mean educational attainment, but rather the development of male and female students in an integrated human way,” noting that “the human dimension and mental health in The university education system is essential in order to create an appropriate environment that enables our students to overcome the impact of these crises and activate all their potentials.

He pointed out that “we at the Antonine University realize the importance of promoting a culture of psychological comfort not only for our students, but for members of the entire community, and for this reason, all the lectures and workshops that will be held will not be exclusive to the Antonines, but are open to all university students, and to every person in Lebanon looking for a How to maintain his psychological health and personal balance.

In turn, the Director of Medical Care at the Ministry of Public Health, Joseph El-Helou, pointed to “the importance of promoting a culture of psychological comfort at the Antonine University, by organizing a mental health week, which is being held for the third time at the university,” stressing “the Ministry of Health’s support for such initiatives.”

He also revealed that “the Ministry of Health has begun to cover the expenses of mental health treatment in hospitals,” pointing out that “the main problem in Lebanon is political, and when political matters are resolved, economic and health matters are resolved.”

It is noteworthy that this week included several workshops on controlling anxiety, facing fear, self-care, spiritual development, and others. The mental health week will end with a day dedicated to youth, in which school students will participate and will include sports and awareness activities.
