A 19-year-old from the Schärding district had a fatal accident on Eisenbirner Straße (L515) on Thursday evening. In the Edenwiesen area, for unknown reasons, he ended up on the right shoulder. He then swerved his car and crashed sideways into a residential building. The impact was so powerful that the car, the building and a car parked in the garage suffered serious damage, the Upper Austrian state police said on Friday.
The 19-year-old was rescued unconscious from the vehicle by first responders and resuscitated until the arrival of the rescue workers. Paramedics pronounced the young man dead.
