Salvatore, an evangelical brother, contacted our colleagues at RTL to tell them regarding his misadventure. He explains that his scooter was stolen while he was distributing food. And if he does not blame the thieves, Salvatore is saddened by the loss of his bag, which was attached to his scooter. He still hopes to get it back.

Before being at the pension, Salvatore, aged 63, was an ice cream maker. Today, he has decided to dedicate his time to helping others. “We will all have to leave this Earth one day or another. We might as well do good around us before leaving, ”explains the sixty-year-old. To do this, Salvatore joins 14 other evangelical brothers every Monday to distribute food to people in need on Place Victor Horta in Brussels. “It became a sort of date. There are plenty of people waiting for us every time. We try to bring them a little comfort with what we have, ”says Salvatore once more.

To get there, Salvatore took his scooter. “I had just bought it six months ago. It didn’t even have 40 kilometers on the clock,” he explains. His brand new scooter, which he had bought for no less than 700 euros, was stolen from him while he was in Place Victor Horta. “It was around 6:30 p.m. when we started unloading the supplies. We can’t park directly on the square, so we generally go back and forth to install everything,” explains Salvatore.

“I thought it was a joke”

Only ten meters separated him from the van once morest which his scooter was placed. “I barely had time to turn around when she had disappeared. I was in panic. I asked people around if they had seen anything and I was told that they had just seen a 13-year-old boy leaving with my scooter,” explains the Belgian. “I thought it was a joke,” he adds. But very quickly, it is no longer for the scooter that he worries, but for his backpack, which he had left on it. “I had a backpack on my scooter, with the keys to my car, my house, my diary, photos…everything! “laments Salvatore.

The evangelical thinks he will never get his scooter back. But for his personal affairs, he remains optimistic. “I only ask one thing: to find my bag. That would be really nice of them. I don’t need my scooter, it’s just equipment. But in my bag, I had unique photos of my parents who just passed away. That’s what matters most to me. For the rest, God bless them. Them, and my scooter! “, adds the sexagenarian.

And to recover the backpack, Salvatore is even ready to give a ransom: “I just want them to drop my bag off at the post office, I can give them some money,” he says. The evangelical is not angry with thieves: “I am a Christian, I do not want to respond with evil. I can even give them food and drink, I don’t blame them,” he concludes.
