LIBREVILLE, April 27 (Infosplusgabon) – ARISE Integrated Industrial Platforms (ARISE IIP), a pan-African developer and operator of world-class industrial parks, in partnership with the Republic of Sierra Leone, is proud to announce the start of construction works for the industrial zone of SIZ – Koya. This integrated industrial infrastructure, in line with ARISE IIP’s ambition to unlock Africa’s industrial potential, will support the Republic of Sierra Leone in advancing its industrialization agenda.
As part of the construction of the zone, ARISE IIP is to invest $120 million in the development of the Koya Industrial Zone (SIZ – Sierra Leone Industrial Zones), the result of a public-private partnership between ARISE IIP and the Republic from Sierra Leone.
Phase 1 : As part of phase 1, whose work begins in May 2023, SIZ – Koya will see the installation of 16 production units mainly focused on import substitution industries. Extending over 150 hectares, the private investments (FDI) for this first phase are estimated at 165 million dollars and the creation of direct jobs at 2,500.
Phase 2 : During phase 2 of SIZ – Koya, 37 production units will be installed on 350 hectares within the zone, mainly related to import substitution industries and local processing of raw materials into high value-added products. The investment is estimated at $140 million (FDI) and 6,500 additional jobs will be created.
The integrated industrial zone of SIZ – Koya is to accommodate specialized companies, among others, in the sectors of agro-industry, wood processing, pharmaceutical products, the manufacture of consumer goods, the manufacture of electric vehicles, as well as than the manufacture of cement and tiles.

The construction of the SIZ-Koya Industrial Zone also embodies AFC’s efforts to support African countries in developing their industrial capabilities.”

Over the past few years, ARISE IIP has experienced remarkable expansion across more than a dozen countries in Africa. For example, ARISE IIP manages the Gabon Special Economic Zone (GSEZ), which focuses on the timber industry. 16,000 jobs have been created there, 120 investors have joined the project. From a log exporter, Gabon has become the world’s second largest producer and exporter of veneer, and the first in Africa.
