Maurizio Jacobacci from Bern has been the lion’s coach since February.
The former Sion and Lugano coach Maurizio Jacobacci has been on the sidelines at the traditional German club 1860 Munich since the end of February. But even if the Berner was able to stabilize the struggling 3rd division club a bit in terms of sport, the lions are once once more making unwanted headlines.
As the “image” reports, three players are said to have drunk schnapps in the dressing room before and between training sessions. These are two regular players and one substitute player, the newspaper does not name names. All three were warned by the club. However, the professionals obviously do not have to reckon with further sanctions.
Rise out of reach
After being relegated to the fourth-tier Regionalliga Bayern in 2017, 1860 returned to the 3rd division a year later. This season, the Munich team was considered the favorite for promotion and were still the leaders in October.
The club now sits in a disappointing ninth place, a whopping 14 points down on third place, which corrects for participation in the promotion games. With midfielder Raphael Holzhauser (Ex-GC), a player with a Super League past is also under contract with 1860.
