“Anthony LaPaglia’s Hollywood Comeback: The Story Behind His Break After FBI Missing and Return in Florida Man on Netflix”

Why did the stoppage of “FBI Missing” prompted Anthony LaPaglia to put his career on hold, before signing his big comeback this year in the mini-series “Florida Man” on Netflix?

In the early 2000s, he was one of the most iconic actors on American television, thanks to the success of the series FBI: Missing. However, following the end of the program in 2009, Anthony LaPaglia was gradually forgotten by viewers, a crossing of the desert which finally ended with the success of the mini-series Florida Man on Netflix which marks his big comeback. !

In the shoes of a determined and rigid section chief who takes the opposite view of the bestiality that his robust physique suggests, Anthony LaPaglia allowed his character Jack Milone to be among the most popular police officers in the series from the beginning of the 2000s, just like Horatio Caine in CSI: Miami, or Inspector Lilly Rush in Cold Case.

His absence will therefore have lasted almost fifteen years, despite some notable credits in the horror film Annabelle 2, or in the Riviera series whose action takes place in the south of France. Contrary to what one might think, this rarity on the screens stems from a choice of the latter, as he had explained to our colleagues from Parisian.

A cancellation is hard to accept

Fun fact: the tattoos he sports in Florida Man are authentic!

During an interview dating from October 2019, Anthony LaPaglia indeed confided his sadness to see the series which notably enabled him to win the Golden Globe for Best Dramatic Actor (in 2004) ending at the end of its seventh season without being able to offer a worthy end to its loyal viewers.

I was presented with a fait accompli. There was no indication of such a decision. I was in shock. (…) No one gave me any explanations. (…) I do not feel bitterness, but a certain anger. I would have liked a better ending for this series. There, it’s frankly shameful to see the way it ends (…) It will take me time to move on.

The post-FBI Missing Persons therefore seems finally ready to begin for the now 63-year-old actor, while Florida Man has occupied the ranking of the most viewed programs on Netflix since its release, and is already positioned as a credible contender for the upcoming Best Miniseries Emmys and Golden Globes.

The Florida Man mini-series is available now on Netflix.
