Kozhikode: The funeral of late Malayalam’s favorite actor and comedian Mamukoya will be held today. It is reported that following the funeral prayer at Arakinar Mujahid Mosque at 9:30 am, the burial will take place at Kannambaram crematorium at 10 am.

The public darshan which started at Kozhikode Town Hall at around 4:45 pm yesterday continued till 10 pm. Thousands of people from the fields of cinema, theatre, culture and politics came to pay their last respects to the great actor. Later, the body was brought home, but many people came to the house late at night to have a last look at the actor.

On the night of 24th, Mamukoya, who had arrived at Malappuram Kalikav Poongode to inaugurate the sevens football tournament, fell ill and was later admitted to a private hospital in Vantur. From there he was shifted to Kozhikode hospital. He was being treated in the intensive care unit since Monday. Earlier he had also sought treatment for cancer. He died yesterday at 1:05 while undergoing treatment there. Apart from the heart attack, he suffered a brain haemorrhage which worsened his condition and led to his death.
