The Rehabilitation Resource Center launches in collaboration with the Francophone Association for Cognitive Remediation (AFRC) a mental health mediation competition around participation in cognitive remediation.
Participation in the context of cognitive remediation: what are the issues?
Today, cognitive remediation is increasingly offered as part of psychiatric care pathways, and recognized as a form of treatment that promotes recovery. However, it is often presented as cognitive training exercises disconnected from the daily reality of the person. However, the cornerstone of cognitive remediation programs lies in the active participation of the person, which is essential to the effectiveness of the program. This may involve integrating innovative strategies into everyday life, on themes as broad as: mobility, competitive employment, love life, housing, leisure, volunteering, etc.
The challenge is also societal and ethical, with regard to welcoming and encouraging the participation of the person, today most often excluded from society and from life in society. It can be simple access to all public services in an equitable way, to participate in the life of the city as an entrepreneur, student, volunteer, teacher, carer, researcher, parent, in short, as a citizen. active.ve. However, cognitive remediation is still often perceived as passive.
