In Kenya, 58 starving believers died following listening to the words of the priest who told them to starve and pray to get heaven. The dead were members of a group of Christian worshipers who had given up food and water. The bodies were found in mass graves in a forest in south-eastern Kenya. With this, the number of people who died of starvation due to superstition has reached 67.

, Paul McKenzie Nthenge advised people to pray for heaven to enable them to see God. A community was also formed under the name of ‘Goodnews International Church’. Similar incidents have been reported in connection with him before.

The new incident comes following Pastor Paul McKenzie was released on bail in connection with the death of two children. The pastor told the parents that death would make those children heroes. After that, the police found the bodies of some people who had died of starvation following listening to his advice. More dead bodies were found during the subsequent investigation.

The bodies were first found in a 325-hectare forest area around the Good News International Church. The police have started an investigation into the missing persons from the area. Police and human rights organizations are collecting information by visiting houses. Police and authorities are continuing to search the Shakahola forest near the coastal town of Malindi. The news regarding this was released by The Guardian.

It is a big crime. Kenya’s Interior Minister Kithure said strict action will be taken once morest those who instigated this, including the priest. The government respects the freedom of religion, but those who pushed the people into primitive customs should be severely punished – Kithure tweeted.
