What happened?
An unusual finding was the one made by officials of the Municipal Cemetery of Punta Arenas, Magallanes region, because in the middle of their work they came across a small urn and a bag with skeletal remainswhich would belong to a baby, next to a dumpster.

As a result of the situation, the deputy mayoress of Punta Arenas, Claudia Casaspointed out that “cemetery personnel who were doing the usual rounds of surveillance, found an urn, for which all the protocols that are in place in these cases were adopted, calling the PDI to make the complaint, who appeared at the scene and determined that the Legal Medical Service attend”.

“Now everything is in the hands of the PDI that is conducting the investigations. In addition to that, we are reviewing the security cameras to determine who might be involved in these events,” added Casas.

Meanwhile, from the PDI, the commissioner Rodrigo Gonzalez, deputy head of the Homicide Brigade, explained that “while cleaning officials of the enclosure carried out their tasksthey noticed the presence of a small urn in good condition, with its lid obviously forced, being found on the side of a garbage receptacle. Also, inside it, they found a plastic bag containing dirt and some bone remains.”
“The antecedents were brought to the attention of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, who arranged for detectives from the Homicide Brigade together with expert professionals from the Regional Criminalistics Laboratory to attend the premises, in order to carry out registration and photographic fixation, and later, the skeletal remains were removed by personnel from the Legal Medical Service,” added the detective.
