Starship wreck crushes van in immediate vicinity of explosion

A fragment of the Starship rocket, which exploded last Thursday (20) during its first flight test, crushed a van parked near the platform from which Elon Musk’s SpaceX spacecraft left.

A video by user LabPadre shows the moment of the explosion, followed by a dense cloud of dust and an object falling towards the vehicle.

Chris Bergin, from the NASASpaceFlight portal team, was the owner of the dented car. “Remember, we took these risks on purpose to get cool footage, and we are really grateful when rocket companies allow the media to have cameras in the Danger Zone,” Bergin wrote, still posting pictures of the damage.

His van, which was not completely destroyed but suffered heavily, was just one of the victims of the explosion. Area residents cited a rain of particles following the explosion, littered with surfaces and objects.

It is worth remembering that the explosion took place following Starship failed to reach orbital speed following separating from the Super Heavy booster. The test lasted regarding four minutes before the destruction — now it will take a few months for Musk to repeat the experiment.

And you, what would you do if your car was hit by debris from an Elon Musk rocket?
