Some time ago, we heard rumors regarding iPad Pro with OLED screensOrganic light-emitting diodeor organic light-emitting diode.”>1, including that they will cost more. Now, a new rumor realizes that said display technology will be inserted into almost all of Apple’s product line in the coming years, which will even increase OLED production in general.

According to OLED Infothe consultancy Omdia projects that the production of OLED screens will increase from 9.7 million in 2022 for more than 70 million by 2028. Most of these displays will be on laptops, although tablets are also expected to contribute to this impressive growth.

In line with other predictions, the consultancy stated that iPads Pro should gain OLED screens as early as next year, while MacBooks Pro will adopt this technology from 2026. Previously, analysts like Ming-Chi Kuo have already reverberated rumors that corroborate this information , such as that the MacBook Air will get an OLED display in 2024.

Another interesting information brought by Omdia is the launch of two other products that would bring OLED displays: two monitors, with screen sizes of 32 and 42 inches. They might be launched in 2027, with QD-OLED and/or WOLED technology. Apple currently has the Studio Display (27″) and the Pro Display XDR (32″).

Thus, according to the schedule above, almost all Apple products would already be using OLED technology in 2026. By 2028, for Omdia, the proportion of devices using this type of screen should increase from 2% (in 2022 ) for 14%.

It is worth mentioning that, in addition to being a speculation, the rumor refers to several different products, many of which are still many years away from us (if they are released at all). Thus, it would not be surprising if Apple changes plans in the meantime and gives up on any of them. In any case, it is interesting to observe the impact that Apple may have on the display industry, in addition to the changes that we may see in the company’s products.
