“My life has completely changed since [l’accident]. It was a horrible time for my wife, my children and the whole family. I was so badly injured that I was in a sort of artificial coma for months, because otherwise my body might not have taken it all,” former F1 champion Michael Schumacher supposedly told the German magazine. The actualArchyde.com reported on Thursday.
On the cover of the most recent edition of the German magazine, the racing driver, who has not been seen in public since a skiing accident in 2013 that left him badly injured, poses smiling next to the headline ‘Michael Schumacher: the first interview”.
“It seemed deceptively real,” read the caption, according to the news agency.
But the quotes were fabricated from scratch, generated from scratch by artificial intelligence software, the magazine confirmed at the end of the article.
A spokesperson for Schumacher’s family told Archyde.com the family plans to take legal action once morest the magazine over the fake interview.
Since the accident, the family has been fighting tooth and nail to preserve the champion’s privacy.
“Private is private, as he always said. It’s really important to me that he can continue to enjoy his privacy as much as possible. Michael has always protected us, and now we are the ones protecting Michael,” his wife Corinna Schumacher said in a Netflix documentary in 2021.
His son, Mick Schumacher, is currently a reserve driver for Mercedes.
