100,000-year-old relic up for auction

The most spectacular piece of the event “The collector’s Room” is a fossilized mammoth molar, 100,000 years old. The silicified tooth is accompanied by an expert certificate issued by the Geological Institute of Romania and has a starting price of 400 euros. Such rarities are in large museums and are sought following by collectors and natural history enthusiasts, and the appearance of the paleontological specimen in the auction is a first for Romania.

In the auction on Thursday, April 27, there are also valuable pieces from prestigious collections such as the Theodor Aman family collection, the Moise Weinberg collection, but also the Arthur Verona family collection. From the collection of the Theodor Aman family comes the set of four Art Deco photo frames, decorated with silvered bronze inlays, which has a starting price of 200 euros, as well as the Haas & Czjzek porcelain aperitif service, consisting of a platter and six plates for serving, decorated with blackberries. The piece made in the Czechoslovak workshop has a starting price of 200 euros. From the historical collection of the painter Arthur Verona comes the gold snuffbox, centrally decorated with a coat of arms, with a diamond button, which has a starting price of 3,700 euros, but also a glass bottle for perfume, with a gold frame, decorated with pearls and amethysts, which has a starting price of 1,200.

The unique objects in the auction are complemented by pieces with a utilitarian role. An example is the elegant clock and pair of candlesticks dore bronze mantelpiece with Hippolyte Azur mechanism, which has a starting price of €2,500. The works of art signed by the famous painter Karl Kaufmann are perfectly integrated in contemporary spaces or complement an art collection: “Napoletan view” (starting price 800 euros); “Amsterdan Canal” (starting price 800 euros); “Port of Naples, with Vesuvius in the background” (starting price 800 euros); “The cottage at the foot of the Alps” (starting price 1000 euros).

The pieces from the “The collector’s Room” auction are on display at Palatul Cesianu-Racoviță, where rare pieces of interior design can be identified, which can be used in the design of contemporary interior spaces, and can be admired until Thursday, April 27, in free of charge, between 10:00 and 20:00.
