Apple Worldwide Developers Conference WWDC will be held in June, when Apple is expected to announce system version upgrades such as iOS 17 and iPadOS 17. Although the new system will bring new functions, it also means that some old devices will be eliminated and cannot be upgraded to the new system version. According to a report by French media iPhoneSoft, the two first-generation iPad Pros will not be able to upgrade to iPadOS 17.
Eliminate A9 series processors
The 12.9-inch version of the original iPad Pro was launched in November 2015, and the 9.7-inch version was released in March of the following year. Both are equipped with TSMC’s 16nm process A9X processor, and the 12.9-inch version has built-in 4GB RAM, while the 9.7-inch The version only has 2GB RAM. Along with the original iPad Pro, the iPad (fifth generation) was eliminated, using the A9 processor. The elimination of these iPads is actually traceable, because the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus with A9 processors cannot be upgraded even to iOS 16.
For the first batch of users who started with the above-mentioned iPad and iPad Pro, the use period has reached 6 to 7 years. Even if the iPadOS 17 cannot be upgraded by the end of this year, the tablet itself can still be used, but new features cannot be obtained.
