A French teenager was arrested by the police last Thursday, in Mantes-la-Ville, because he is suspected of having participated in several car thefts using a rather original scheme, reports The Parisian.
The 15-year-old allegedly created a fake profile on a dating site. He posed as a woman and thus lured his victims on a “date”.
The motorist was instead greeted by three men who violently pulled him out of the vehicle and then fled in the car.
A man who was trapped in this way decided to complain to the authorities, who then set a trap for the criminals.
When the police saw two teenagers attacking the driver of a car they were watching closely, they arrested the thieves and their 16-year-old accomplice who was standing guard at the entrance to the park where the flight was to take place.
The mastermind behind this subterfuge, however, confessed to at least one of his crimes. He also admitted driving a stolen vehicle without a license.
False explanation?
The teenager told investigators that the man he trapped on Thursday was a pedophile he suspected of having approached his sister on a gaming platform. He therefore wanted revenge on the individual.
The police, however, do not seem to believe the version of the 15-year-old, who is also already known to the police.
