Meinl-Reisinger: “New edition of a FPÖVP coalition in the federal government much closer.”

Vienna/Salzburg (OTS) NEOS Chairwoman Beate Meinl-Reisinger describes the performance in today’s state elections as a “painful result and a clear mandate for a restart of NEOS in Salzburg”.

As a young movement, when you participated in the government for the very first time, you “paid an expensive lesson and also received a government penalty”.

“Andrea Klambauer was the first NEOS state councilor to do pioneering work – both for Salzburg and for our movement. Your services for childcare and affordable housing have made life better for tens of thousands of Salzburg residents. These achievements remain, even if they unfortunately did not receive the hoped-for support in today’s election,” said Meinl-Reisinger.

The result must wake up Mitte

Meinl-Reisinger sees the main responsibility for the drastic drifting apart in the state of Salzburg in the ÖVP of Governor Haslauer. Due to his unclear position towards the FPÖ, he “left the middle path and rolled out the carpet for the extremes”. With the FPÖ and KPÖ, the fringes have increased significantly. “Solutions for people in their everyday lives, for the economy and for security are becoming much more difficult.”

A development that the federal government also sees with increasing concern. “Today Austria has come a long way towards a new edition of an FPÖVP coalition. That has to shake up the middle,” appealed the NEOS boss.
