Literary writer M Mukundan said that the writer’s duty is to stand with the people in the era when the question of where is the human being in Kochi. There are no humans now. They are divided on the basis of caste, religion and politics. M Mukundan said that writers and readers should defend this situation together. He was speaking following receiving the Abraham Madamakal award. Noam Chomsky says India is passing through a dangerous situation. Many things happen in India which should not happen in a civilized society. A street dog biting a pedestrian should not happen in a civilized society. Books are facing a big threat today. Without writers, there would be no books. People’s dreams can be found in books. Books like Thakazhi’s Thotti’s Son and Ranidangazhi were the dreams of the era. Today in the storage of writers is tears. There are so many sorrows in the society. M Mukundan also said that the stories written by Abraham Madamakal, a freedom fighter and writer who made very original observations regarding the society, should be found and compiled.
