Last year, singer Sofia Rotaru condemned Russia’s actions in Ukraine. It would seem that following this, the performer of “Khutoryanka” should break all ties with our country, but this never happened. As the journalists of the New Russian Sensations program on the NTV channel managed to find out, 75-year-old Sofia Mikhailovna still owns a spacious apartment on Zoological Street in Moscow.
The ex-director of the singer Olga Konyakhina told reporters that Yury Luzhkov had allocated the living space at one time. The then mayor did not like that such a popular singer was forced to stay in hotels. Rotaru herself was last seen on Zoological Street regarding two years ago. After that, allegedly, the artist asked her friend to look following the apartment, but she drank herself.
“Rotar had to explain himself to the neighbors, and it was not possible to keep the story a secret. So her secret ties with Russia surfaced in the press. Now the apartment is empty, and utility bills are piling up dead weight, ”NTV points out.
Journalists believe that the fact that Rotaru has property in Russia, which can still be confiscated, is unlikely to be favorably received by many of her compatriots. However, as some are convinced, Sofia Mikhailovna should not be blamed. So, TV presenter Sergei Sosedov is sure that Rotaru made anti-Russian statements “because she was bent over.”
