In Togo, all regions will soon have a Regional Center for Agricultural Mechanization (CRMA). The project that falls within the framework of the mmodernization of the agricultural sector was officially launched on April 20, 2023 by the Head of State Faure Gnassingbé, the laying of the first stone for the construction of the CRMA in Tchitchao in the Kara.
The ambition of this new project is to accelerate the operationalization of the modernization of the sector through the establishment of regional agricultural mechanization centers throughout the territory.
It is the result of a public-private partnership, which responds to the policy of improving productivity and promoting agricultural entrepreneurship.
The implementation of this infrastructure is also guided by a concern for performance aimed at training young people in the mechanization trade.
The Tchitchao center, whose work started immediately, will cover 3 hectares and will help reduce the hardship of working the land and improve yields through the availability of modern equipment and continuous training and maintenance services. .
The Kara CRMA will have several facilities including an agricultural equipment exhibition center, a 2000m agricultural equipment park2 each, an administrative building, housing for technicians, a storage warehouse for finished products, a spare parts warehouse, the technical department for maintenance and training of technicians
The construction and equipment works of the Kara Pilot Center will be carried out by Bonkoungou Distribution (BKG), which specializes in the provision of mechanized plowing services, the sale and rental of agricultural machinery and equipment to users, training in trades agricultural mechanization and the promotion of rural entrepreneurship.
“Eventually, all the regions of our country will have a CRMA, in response to the requests expressed by the actors and in accordance with our vision of modernizing Togolese agriculture”, reassured Faure Gnassingbé.
