Cameroon: The G27+ Opposes The Appointment Of A Homeless Senator And His Election As Vice-President Of The Senate

2023-04-22 20:04:41

The Collective of Militants and Executives of the SDF, also called “G27+”, published a statement on 237online.com, in which it denounces the appointment of Senator Vanlgansen Mochlggle and his election as Vice-President of the Cameroonian Senate.

According to the G27+, this appointment signifies a rapprochement between the opposition Social Democratic Front (SDF) party and the ruling party, the Democratic Rally of the Cameroonian People (RDPC).

The G27+ criticizes the change of political orientation of the SDF

The G27+ accuses the National President of the SDF, John Fru Ndi, and his clique of having violated the party’s statutes and internal regulations by unilaterally deciding to make the SDF an ally of the CPDM and its presidential majority. This alliance, according to the collective, might lead to the entry of the SDF into the next CPDM government, which would radically and definitively change the ideological line of the opposition party.

Call for vigilance and mobilization of SDF activists

Faced with this situation, the G27+ calls on SDF activists to remain calm and vigilant, and to no longer follow John Fru Ndi’s directives so as not to be complicit in the liquidation of the SDF’s legacy. The collective also asks its members to prepare for the holding of a National Congress, which would be worthy of the party’s 32 years of struggle.

The reaction of the SDF to the appointment of Vanlgansen Mochlggle

While activists and Cameroonian national opinion were waiting for a strong denunciation from the SDF hierarchy once morest the appointment of Vanlgansen Mochlggle, the latter was elected Vice-President of the Senate. This election has angered the G27+, which strongly condemns the acceptance of the nomination by the party hierarchy.
