This announcement was made by Prime Minister Ouhoumoudou Mahamadou, this Saturday, April 15, 2023 at the National Assembly.

It was during a current affairs question session.

“We have just presented the balance sheet for the year 2022, and this year ended with a growth rate of 11.5%, there is no WAEMU country that has reached this rate. I, we are the champion of growth”, declared the head of government before the National representation.

According to Ouhoumoudou Mahamadou, despite the international context which is punctuated by “several crises, and also the one we are facing here in Niger, we have managed to maintain inflation thanks to the efforts of the government which has committed more than 130,000 tons of cereals for sales at moderate prices, which made it possible to contain inflation at a rate around 4%, and there is no WAEMU country which has achieved this rate”.

Responding to the topical question put to him by MP Omar Hamidou Tchana on communications in the Council of Ministers of Public Procurement, the Head of Government argued that these communications are ”the will of the government which, by a decree of the Prime Minister, required that the ministers communicate to the Council of Ministers any public contract whose amount is greater than 300 million”.

For him, communication is “intended for the Council of Ministers, not for the public”.

Ouhoumoudou, on this occasion invited the representatives of the people to ”check all the communications and even question all the ministers if in the communications there are not the amounts, the procedures or the assignees of these contracts”.

It should be noted that this presence of the Prime Minister in the Chamber responds to the requirement of control of government action or topical issues which is in accordance with the mission of the National Assembly.
