During the day of this Saturday, April 22, the National Disaster Prevention and Response Service (Senapred), declared Preventive Early Warning for 7 communes of the Metropolitan region for electric storms.
The meteorological event might be present in the capital’s skies today and tomorrow night, Sunday, April 23, according to information from the Chilean Meteorological Directorate (DMC).
Preventive Early Warning for rains and electrical storms in the Metropolitan Region
The communes of Lo Barnechea, Las Condes, La Reina, Peñalolén, La Florida, Pirque and San José de Maipo, are located in Preventive Early Warning for electrical storms.
According to Senapred“constitutes a state of strengthening surveillance, through precise and rigorous monitoring of risk conditions and the respective vulnerabilities associated with the threat (…) in order to act promptly in case of emergency situations.”
In addition, he called on the population to avoid approaching machinery, fences or metal bars, wire fences, and electrical and/or telephone lines; radio equipment, GPS devices, landlines or mobile phones during the event.
