Apparently she’s disappointed by her father-in-law’s disinterest in her royal family-related issues.
The relationship between Meghan and the royal family was probably never the best: Be it because Meghan made fun of the Queen, be it because of the controversial Oprah Winfrey interview, in which Meghan didn’t leave a good hair on the royal family. Above all, Meghan accused the royal family of racism because individuals had apparently speculated regarding what skin color son Archie would have. That the former actress didn’t even attend the coronation of King Charles III. appears, probably represents the low point in the relationship between the two parties.
But why is Meghan staying at home? After all, it would be easy to calm things down a bit by attending the coronation ceremony. So far it has been speculated that son Archie’s birthday, which falls on the same day, would be the main reason. The British newspaper “Telegraph”, on the other hand, speculates regarding other reasons: Apparently, a letter correspondence between Charles III. and Meghan for displeasure on the part of the Duchess.
Charles ignored Meghan’s concerns
Since the Oprah disaster in 2021, no one from the royal family is said to have contacted Meghan once more – except for King Charles, then a prince. He wrote the 41-year-old a letter apparently expressing regret at being saddened by the rift that has opened up between the Sussexes and the royal family. He also expressed his incomprehension that Meghan and Harry felt it necessary to publicly pull the royal family through the cocoa.
Meghan replied to the letter by thanking Charles for contacting her. However, this time she once more raised allegations: she was very disappointed with the way the royal family reacted to her allegations of bullying and her severe mental crisis. Apparently Charles didn’t go into detail.
While the exchange of letters between the two has been described as relatively de-escalating, it was barely enough to really improve relations between the Sussex family and Royalty. Therefore, the royal family was not surprised that Meghan canceled the coronation ceremony.
What exactly was written in the correspondence between Meghan and Charles remains unclear.
