An oil mill was inaugurated Thursday in Tsiroanomandidy as part of the One district, one factory (ODOF) project. The unit will be able to process up to 400 kilos of peanuts and produce up to 1500 1 L bottles of oil in one hour.
The implementation of the ODOF project is on its way. On Thursday, it was the turn of the Tsiroanomandidy district to be equipped with an oil mill which uses groundnuts as the basic raw material. It has a production capacity of up to 1,500 1 L bottles per hour and can process up to 400 kilos of peanuts in one hour. “The realization of the ODOF project is the realization of the Velirano 7 of the President of the Republic”, declared the Minister of Industrialization, Trade and Consumption (MICC), Edgard Razafindravahy, who came personally to hand over the oil mill to the population. by Tsiroanomandidy. The ODOF project plans to install 75 industrial units in the districts of the country. The objective is to transform local production in order to supply the country with basic necessities (PPN). Districts like Ambositra, Manjakandriana have been equipped with honey mills, and Morondava with an oil mill. The installation of industrial units will contribute directly to improving the income of local farmers. Producers will be grouped into cooperatives to facilitate the supply of raw materials.

Like the other industrial units, a call for projects will be launched for operators wishing to operate this Tsiroanomandidy oil mill. Among the conditions that will appear in the contract, the obligation to obtain supplies of groundnuts from farmers grouped into cooperatives. “The ultimate objective is to reduce the import of oil, like the import of sugar with the mini-sweets installed,” says Minister Edgard Razafindravahy. The latter also took advantage of his visit to the capital of Bongolava to officially install the new members of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) of Bongolava. According to the Minister, these new members will have to be the ambassadors of the products of the region, and act as models for the cooperatives and the economic operators of Bongolava.
