“Discover the Woodworking Wonders of the Ajoie and Clos du Doubs Ice Rink – From the Forest to the Ice Rink”

2023-04-22 11:15:00

The history of the new ice rink in Ajoie and Clos du Doubs is now anchored in an educational trail. Eight explanatory panels were inaugurated on Saturday morning in Porrentruy. They invite visitors to come back to the construction of this emblematic infrastructure for the region. Initiated by the timber industry and the Intermunicipal Syndicate of the Porrentruy district (SIDP), the project is called “from the forest to the ice rink”. In particular, it should be used to highlight the woodworking trades that participated in the construction of the skating rink. “The objective was to remember this construction which is very special, because it was mainly carried out regionally”, indicates Gauthier Corbat, one of the project leaders, also director of the Corbat Group which participated in the construction of the ice skating rink.

Concretely, visitors will be able to discover an infographic showing all the wooden elements included in the ice rink as well as the various trades in the sector that contributed to the project. Illustrations were also done by Pitch Comment on each panel. For the president of the SIDP, Jean-Paul Lachat, this route should serve as a showcase for the collective effort that has been undertaken by an entire region for the construction of the infrastructure.

Also in charge of the project, the former Councilor to the States, Claude Hêche, explained that there were many requests for visits, in particular from public authorities, to find out more regarding the wood aspect of the building. According to Gauthier Corbat, the executive of the city of La Chaux-de-Fonds, for example, moved to Porrentruy to find out regarding the building. /alr
