Mamta government did not answer me: Priyanka
National Child Protection Commission (NCPCR) chairman Priyanka Kanungo tweeted, “Police are accused of humiliating the dead body of a girl who was gang-raped and murdered in North Dinajpur, West Bengal.” I am going there today to investigate whether the girl gets justice and the culprits are punished. The state government was informed yesterday, no reply has been received.
What is the whole matter?
Demanding immediate arrest of the culprits, the local people started protesting by placing the dead body on the road. The local people clashed with the police when they arrived to take possession of the girl’s body.
Over this, the locals blocked the traffic on the road, burnt tires and allegedly pelted stones at the police. To control the crowd, the police had to lathicharge and fire tear gas shells.
The police is probing the matter in this regard. So far two accused have been arrested in the case and additional security forces have been deployed in the area. However, the BJP has accused the government of trying to hide the truth on this.
