Euzhan Palcy has directed more than twenty films, the last in 2010. She received the César for best first film for “Rue Cases Nègres” in 1983 and an honorary Oscar for her entire career in 2022. This new recognition is the result of a proposal by the deputy of the 1st constituency of Martinique, Jiovanny William. This tribute to the filmmaker from Martinique is in line with the approach to disseminating culture and promoting the Overseas Territories within the Assembly of Parliament, initiated by the President of the National Assembly. Since his election to the perch of the Palais Bourbon, Yaël Braun-Pivet has organized numerous events honoring personalities and overseas territories: virtual visits with overseas schools, Overseas breakfast with parliamentarians, etc. The President of the National Assembly recently inaugurated a Jacques Lafleur-Jean-Marie Tjibaou room.
