The Royal Academy of Medicine and Surgery of Seville has closed an agreement to rent a property that it owns at number 7 Argote de Molina street, right next to the noble headquarters of the entity, at number 10 Abades street.
A tourist company will reform the property to accommodate a small number of apartments. The rental contract has been conscientiously drawn up to avoid any problem. The Academy thus obtains a source of income that protects its future and also allows it to undertake conservation and maintenance work in the noble seat, the best known by the people of Seville for the enhancement it provides in the admission ceremonies of new academics and other public events. . The Academy remains in its traditional headquarters and only rents a house of regarding 600 square meters built distributed on the ground floor and two floors in height. In this house there are currently only underused offices, a small assembly hall with 50 seats and a library.
The great problem of the Academies, in general, is the lack of financial resources. The Medicine, the oldest in the city, has known how to manage the real estate assets to put a part to rent. Others do not even have those resources. Public aid is scarce. In addition, there is the fact that the maximum number of academics in Medicine is 50, a quota that is not covered now.
