3.2% inflation rose in Japan in March

The Japanese Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications said: The country’s consumer price index rose 3.2% in March on an annual basis.

The rate was in line with expectations. On a monthly basis, inflation rose by 0.4%, beating expectations of 0.1%, following recording a decline of 0.6% in the previous month.

The core CPI, which excludes volatile food prices, rose 3.1% year-on-year, matching expectations and matching the rise in February.

The headline CPI increased on a monthly basis by 0.5% in March, in line with expectations, compared to 0.4% in the previous month.
