Today was the second day of the Trial in the case of the attempted murder of Nini Satar, triggered in November last year. The defendants heard accuse Nini Satar of simulating her own murder to agitate the jail and be talked regarding in the media once more.
This Wednesday, the trial began in the case of the attempted murder of Momad Satar, also known as Nini Satar, who is serving a sentence in the Maximum Security Prison, for the murder of journalist Carlos Cardoso.
According to the Public Prosecutor’s Office, the case took place in February last year and involved prisoners and agents of the Police of the Republic of Mozambique.
In all, there are six defendants involved in the attempted murder of Nini Satar, of which three are agents of the Police of the Republic of Mozambique (PRM), assigned to the Rapid Intervention Unit (UIR), and the other three are prisoners serving time in that unit. .
These are Lenine Macamo, José Ngulela and Edson Muyanga, members of the Rapid Intervention Unit and the inmates Leão Wilson, Damião Mula and António Chicuamba, who until the date of the facts were serving sentences for the crimes of kidnapping and carrying prohibited weapons.
In the indictment order, the Public Prosecutor’s Office accused the members of the PRM of having contacted the Defendant Leão Wilson, detained in the BO, to, together with the others, murder Nini Satar, through water.
The Assistant Public Prosecutor said that “in the case file it appears that Nini would be killed by a substance to be acquired in Nampula, but seeing the delay, other mechanisms were activated and the possibility of using a firearm was considered. However, a firearm would make a lot of noise and attract attention from others”.
But the plan was discovered by the reclusive Carlos Zavala, following he was contacted to execute Nini, not knowing that Zavala was intimate with Nini.
According to the Public Ministry, the inmate in question denounced the claim to his friend (Nini), who was in charge of producing evidence of this claim. This is where the audios supposedly made by agents José Ngulela and Edson Muyanga appear, with content of death threats and referencing the involvement of high-ranking figures of the State (President of the Republic, Attorney General of the Republic and Commander General of the Republic).
This Thursday, the defendants José Ngulela and Edson Muyanga, PRM agents named in the case file as the ringleaders, were heard but denied everything and accused Nini Satar of being the one who set up the whole scheme.
“José Ngulela said that, according to Lenine Macamo, Mr. Momed Satar instructed that this simulation of murder be carried out because he was no longer talked regarding, above all because he wanted to create a stir in order to convey the idea that in the prison where he was I was not sure”, said Lucílio Nhanombe, dictating to the hearing minutes.
The defendants accuse Lenine Macamo, a fugitive UIR agent, of having orchestrated the staging, together with Nini Satar.
“Questioned (José Ngulela) regarding how he got into this soap opera, he replied that Lenine was the one who sought him out saying he had a jackpot. It was regarding a soap opera to assassinate Mr Nini Satar,” he said.
The hearings for the defendants ended this Friday. What follows, as of next Monday (24th), hear the deponents and among them is the (offended) plaintiff Momad Satar, in order, according to the judge of the case, to help clarify the case, which he is accused of orchestrating .
