- Anna Rosenwasser is an LGBTIQ activist, journalist and author.
- The 33-year-old recently published her first book, the “Pink Book”. She talks regarding it with “Weekend on the Rocks” presenter Frank Richter.
- The title of the book is no coincidence: throughout history, the color pink has often been used as a derogatory label for queer people.
Anna Rosenwasser has a dream: She wants discrimination once morest queer people in Switzerland to be a thing of the past.
The LGBTIQ activist is committed to a healthy culture of criticism. “But I don’t want to be infallible,” says the 33-year-old in a talk with “Weekend on the Rocks” presenter Frank Richter.
However, Rosenwasser has absolutely no desire to argue regarding gender. “It’s so easy to argue regarding it, it’s just a waste of time.”
Women get disproportionately more hate than men
However, it is also a fact that women in public get disproportionately more hate than men.
The native of Zurich, who grew up in Schaffhausen, also feels this – especially when she is on her Instagram-Account commented on controversial voting proposals.
The 33-year-old Rosenwasser doesn’t let that get her down. She takes a screenshot of every hate comment and every anti-Semitic e-mail – Rosenwasser has Jewish roots – and forwards it to NetzCourage. NetzCourage is a non-profit association that actively opposes hate comments on the Internet, discrimination and racism.
Anna Rosenwasser: “It has gotten better”
In recent years, a lot has happened in Switzerland in terms of equality, says Rosenwasser, who eventually realized “that I also like women”. Still, not everything is good.
In the past, when she was still with a man, it didn’t “scratch” anyone when she walked through Schaffhausen holding hands.
Since she’s been with a woman, she’s felt a difference, says Anna Rosenwasser: “It’s gotten better. But the way some people let you know that you don’t fit the norm isn’t super comfortable.”
It’s one of the reasons the LGBTIQ activist recently published her first book, The Pink Book. In it, the bisexual Rosenwasser writes regarding gender and attraction and wants to help clear up prejudices within and outside the queer community.
