Here is what the famous Belarusian nutritionist Svetlana Kashitskaya says regarding this.

“Unfortunately, in our body there are such processes that we cannot stop,” explains Kashitskaya. “But we can influence them and make them softer.

This also applies to periods such as menopause. This is a natural process in a woman’s life, which is associated with the extinction of the reproductive function.

Often, most women gain weight during this period. And even those who all their lives might boast of their slender figure.

Let’s figure out why.

Closer to the age of 45, in all women, the production of sex hormones, namely estrogen, gradually decreases. They are responsible for metabolic processes in the body. And their decrease slows down the metabolism.

Estrogens make tissues more sensitive to insulin, which, as you know, is responsible for processing sugar. Sugar is poorly digested, the body seeks to remove it, so it urgently processes it into fats.

Leptin is a hormone produced by adipose tissue. It controls appetite and satiety.

Leptin levels are dependent on estrogen. When they are few, the concentration of leptin decreases. This provokes hunger, despite the fact that there is still enough energy reserves. And you eat more and unconsciously choose high-calorie junk food.

Low activity. Many retire and the pace of life becomes slower.

Psychosomatics also plays a role here. Psychologists say that following 50 women are more offended and have claims to their relatives and friends. And resentment and a bad mood, we used to seize.

This is how it turns out that with age, namely during menopause, many gain weight.

And many more find an excuse for themselves that “they say, I won’t lose weight, because I’m already old.” But that’s just an excuse!

How to go through the menopause period as comfortable as possible for yourself and your body?

Such a natural physiological phenomenon as menopause is accompanied by weight gain. And many mistakenly conclude that since this process is inevitable, then it is not necessary to work with excess weight.

And I insist that you can and should work with weight gain. And not only because to look slim, but rather because being overweight leads to numerous health problems.

What to do when you enter menopause?

  1. Tune in psychologically.
  2. Accept all the changes in your body.
  3. To understand that being overweight is not a sentence, but an excellent reason to introduce new useful changes into your life.
