“Egyptian National Football Team’s History of Holiday Matches: Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha”

Egypt’s first national team played many matches on holidays throughout its history, and we begin to monitor these matches coinciding with the Egyptians’ celebration of Eid Al-Fitr, from the first match that brought together the Pharaohs once morest a competing team on the first day of Eid Al-Fitr, and this match was exactly 24 years ago.

The Pharaohs team has previously played several matches, whether friendly or official, during the holidays, whether Eid al-Fitr or Eid al-Adha, which we monitor in the following report.

Denmark Quad

On the second day of Eid al-Adha in 2003, the national team met Denmark in a friendly match, and suffered a major defeat, as the match ended 4/1 at Cairo Stadium.

Target Egypt and Botswana

In 2007, the national team met with its counterpart, Botswana, in the sixth and final round of the African Cup of Nations qualifiers in Ghana 2008. The match was held in Cairo Stadium on October 13, corresponding to the first day of Eid al-Fitr. the second.

Egypt and Australia

The national team met with Australia on November 17, 2010, corresponding to the second day of Eid al-Adha, and the match ended with the victory of the Pharaohs 3/0 in a friendly manner. The goals were scored by Ahmed Abdel-Zaher, Mohamed Nagy Gedo, and Mohamed Zidan.

hexagonal Ghana

Another confrontation brought together the Pharaohs national team and the Ghanaian national team in October 2013, and it was the first day of Eid al-Adha in the decisive round of the 2014 Brazil World Cup qualifiers, in which the Pharaohs lost 6/1, in a match that the Egyptian fans would not forget.

Uganda defeats the Pharaohs in the World Cup qualifiers

In 2017, the national team met Uganda in the third round of the African qualifiers for the World Cup, and the match ended with the loss of the Pharaohs with a goal without a response. The Eid Al-Adha stand was also held, but the team had secured qualification for the World Cup following defeating the Congo.
