[이데일리 강지수 기자] A man in his 20s who was handed over to trial for stealing snacks from an unmanned store and assaulting the store owner was sentenced to 3 years and 6 months in prison.

Chuncheon District Court Wonju Branch Criminal Division 1 (Chief Judge Lee Soo-woong) announced on the 21st that it sentenced A (27), who was charged with robbery and theft, to 3 years and 6 months in prison.
Mr. A stole 3,500 won worth of snacks from an unmanned store in Wonju, Gangwon Province at 9:25 am on February 16th.
Later, when the crime was discovered by the store owner B (32), Mr. A was charged with assaulting and injuring Mr. B, such as strangling Mr. B while running away.
The day before this incident, Mr. A was also investigated for stealing from two unmanned stores in Wonju.
The judge pointed out that “he repeatedly committed the theft without any guilt,” and “there was a risk of causing a serious life-threatening accident if there were no witnesses around him, such as strangling the victim strongly during the crime of robbery.”
Then, he revealed the reason for the sentencing, saying, “The damage has not been recovered at all, and Mr. A does not appear to be sincerely reflecting on the crime, such as stating that ‘it was fun to strangle Mr. B’ at the investigative agency.”
