“17-Year-Old Colombian Cyclist Juan Jose Ortega Passes Away After Vuelta a Anapoima: Mourning the Loss”

Colombian cycling is in mourning, upon learning of the death of the 17-year-old Juan Jose Ortega, who died in a Soacha clinic, following feeling bad at the end of the second stage of the Vuelta a Anapoima.

Ortega was pedaling in search of victory, but three kilometers from the end of the day between Anapoima and the Alto de Mondoñedo had to stop because his health was not the best.

He young cyclist was traveling through the place called La Cabra, when he started to feel bad. The race ambulance picked him up and took him to the finish line.

He received the first attentions. Minutes later, the coach, Hernando Rojas, he realized that Ortega was not with the group and went to the ambulance.

He didn’t see it well. His pupil was vomiting and was not well, so he said it was better to transfer him to a nearby clinic, they took him to Soacha and he died.
