“2023 Asian Cricket Council Premier Cup: Follow Bahrain’s Journey to Qualify for the Asia Cup”

Manama: The Asian Cricket Council Premier Cup, which began on 18 April 2023, pits the region’s 10 best emerging teams once morest each other in 50-over action in Nepal as the final step in qualifying for the 2023 Asia Cup.

10 teams are divided into two groups for the tournament. Oman, Qatar, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia are in Group A alongside hosts Nepal and Bahrain are in Group B alongside UAE, Hong Kong, Kuwait and Singapore. The final will decide the final qualification spot for the 2023 Asia Cup and then the teams will battle it out in Kathmandu for a place in the semi-finals. The way the ACC creates opportunities for emerging nations to develop their skills through tournaments is also commendable. As for the Bahraini team, they have been competing well in foreign tournaments

Chaturanga Team 20 series in Malaysia was a big success. Runners-up in the ACC Men’s Challenger Cup. The first ACC tournament was hosted by the UA, and the U16 team finished as runners-up in the ACC Men’s U16 West Zone Cup. This tournament is another big opportunity for the team to shine.

BCF Treasurer Fawaz Bokhowa echoes Mansoor’s claim that Bahrain cricket has made great strides in the sport, … “It’s an honor to be part of a prestigious global competition and an opportunity to show other teams what Bahrain cricket can achieve. We look forward to strong performances.”

Matches between teams with ODI status will be treated as full One Day Internationals, with the Tribhuvan University Ground sharing hosting rights with the Mulpani Ground on the other side of the Nepalese capital.

The finalists of the tournament and the winner of the third-placed play-off qualify for the 2023 ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup, an eight-team tournament featuring ‘A’ teams Sri Lanka, India, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh.
