The idea to transfer all Russian officials to domestic cars has been around for several decades. And all the time something interfered with its implementation. And now, it would seem, the perfect moment has come to put all our plans into practice. But Russian officials were lucky once more.

The idea to transfer all Russian officials to domestic cars has been around for several decades. And all the time something interfered with its implementation. And now, it would seem, the perfect moment has come to put all our plans into practice. But Russian officials were lucky once more.

The statement is very controversial, however, Russian officials are beginning to change to Chinese-made cars.

Russian government authorities are increasingly holding tenders for the purchase of leading Chinese brands. If a year ago there was only one such case, then this year 13 procurement tenders have been organized at once.

Haval car brands are among the leaders in purchases. In the first quarter of 2023, 8 tenders have already been held for the purchase of a car of this brand, although a year ago there was only an isolated case.

In second place are cars of the Chery brand. The results are a little more modest, only three tenders for the purchase were held, although a year ago these machines were not considered at all as candidates for purchase.

“Bronze” prize-winner brand Geely. Two of these cars were bought, although previously there was no interest in them at all.

To appreciate the difference, 22 tenders were held a year ago for the purchase of French Renault cars, and this year the figure has dropped to a modest figure of 2.

Things are a little more fun for Russian manufacturers in the commercial vehicle segment. The number of tenders for the purchase of GAZ products increased to 156 once morest 128 last year. But AvtoVAZ is failing here too, at the moment purchases have decreased to 152 units, once morest 164 a year earlier.

It becomes clear that the interest of government agencies in the Chinese auto industry will continue to grow, because the same AvtoVAZ does not have a representative class car in its lineup, and Russian officials are not used to driving budget cars. The Volga, which might occupy this niche, was discontinued long ago. And in the absence of Europeans, the Chinese have virtually no competitors.

Although if Russian officials were still transferred to Russian cars, perhaps we would already have a strong auto industry today. But something went wrong.
