First of all, we should remind the readers that 2017 was started Monitoring of university graduates, during which all graduates of higher education institutions (both state universities and private universities and colleges) who obtained a diploma from 2017 to 2019 were identified. It was analyzed how the graduates’ careers developed in the following years following obtaining the diploma, how much the salary was, whether and how business activities developed, whether migration took place, etc.
Average salary – 2497 euros per month
According to the data of the Central Statistics Office, in 2019, the average gross salary in Latvia was 1,076 euros per month, while the minimum salary was 430 euros. Out of all graduates of university bachelor’s programs in 2017, the average salary of graduates in two programs in 2019 was almost or twice higher than the average salary in the country. The highest average income in 2019 from all bachelor’s programs that were completed in 2017 was shown by dental specialists of Riga Stradins University (RSU), whose average monthly salary was 2,497 euros before tax, i.e. gross. Graduates of the computer science bachelor’s program of the University of Latvia (LU) ranked second, with an average salary of 2,048 euros per month gross. In 2019, the salary was at least one and a half times higher than the average salary level in the country in the three program groups of Riga Technical University (RTU): the average salary of graduates of information technology, intellectual, robotic systems, computer systems was 1790 euros per month, construction, heat, gas and water technology
