This Wednesday, the Dutch-speaking court of first instance in Brussels ruled in favor of the management of Delhaize in the dispute between it and the unions in several stores of the group. It can therefore lift the pickets that persist in front of certain supermarkets.
The unions had in fact filed an appeal once morest the ordinance of March 31, prohibiting strike pickets in front of stores and depots of the lion sign, between between April 1 and April 28, 2023. They denounce an attack on the right to strike in the face of the dispatch of bailiffs and police in front of closed stores.
LThe unions have already announced that they will appeal this decision. “The workers of Delhaize receive a new blow on the head. This time it is the Belgian justice which makes them fail. Which side are the authorities of our country on?”regrets by press release Myriam Djegham, national secretary CNE.
“It is regrettable that Belgium still allows companies in 2023 to break up peaceful pickets through unfair procedures. These procedures lead to the intimidating intervention of the judicial officers and the police, thus depriving the workers of their only lever”she continues.
