The Mi Band 8 was finally launched by Xiaomi and due to its popularity, there were many speculations, but did they come true? In previous generations, the smartband maintained its good cost-effectiveness, delivering great comfort and diverse features, continuing its great fame in the world of wearables. Check below if the eighth generation of Mi Band is still as good as its predecessors.
Mi Band 8 bracelet design has changed, but Xiaomi has gone further
The basic design of Xiaomi’s new smartband hasn’t changed and the Mi Band 8 brings that capsule shape to its body. There is a 1.62-inch AMOLED display with an always-on display. However, for this year there has been a change in the bracelet, which is now divided into two parts with a connection system similar to that of the Apple Watch.
By changing the way the bracelet attaches to the Mi Band, Xiaomi demonstrates that it is possible to use it as a pendant.
In addition, the Mi Band 8 has gained a new accessory with a clip that allows the user to attach the smartband to the shoe. The bad part is that previous generations of the wearable do not have compatibility with this new feature.
Features and functionality
In terms of functionality and features, Mi Band 8 is very similar to Mi Band 7. There are more than 150 sports modes to get training data. In addition, the smartband continues with the ability to continuously monitor heart rate, monitor blood oxygen, measure stress level, sleep quality, number of steps and even a detailed analysis of maximum VO2.
A novelty for the new version of Mi Band 8 are the new screens added by Xiaomi, which work like games.
Mi Band 8 will be sold in China in two versions, one with voice assistant and NFC and the other normal. However, these features are generally ignored in the international version, so keep this in mind when purchasing the smartband. If you want the built-in GPS function, unfortunately there is still only support for connected GPS (depends on the connection with the cell phone).
Launch and availability
The Xiaomi Mi Band 8 was launched in China for US$34 for the regular version and US$40 for the NFC version. As nothing is known regarding the international version or the Mi Band 8 Pro yet, stay tuned for more news here at Oficina da Net.
