Big tech organizations are rushing to use generative artificial intelligence (AI) tools. For example, the organization run by Mark Zuckerberg, Meta, said it aims to use generative AI to create advertisements for different companies by the end of the year.
In an interview with Nikkei Asia, Meta’s chief technology officer said the company plans to deliver tools for creating ads with AI that will allow a company to create different images or ads for different audiences.
Tests on WhatsApp and Messenger
In February, Zuckerberg announced a new team dedicated to AI tools to experiment with AI-powered conversations (chats) on WhatsApp and Messenger as well as filters for Instagram.
Although Meta’s meta-universe efforts have yet to yield the expected results, Meta’s big boss still seems to be pushing the idea of creating virtual environments through generative AI.
Create virtual worlds easier than before
To create a 3D world without the help of AI, you have to master a lot of computer graphics and programming. In the future, with AI, all you have to do is describe the world you want to create to see it generated for you. This way, things like content creation become much more accessible to more people.
Generate ad revenue…despite Apple
Although the creation of meta-universes (or metaverses) is on the company’s long-term cards, generating more revenue is probably the most pressing need. Ever since Apple implemented its App Tracking Transparency feature in 2021, Meta has been hit hard. Early last year, the social media company said the constraint had cost it $10 billion in 2022.
To remedy the situation, the company would like to find more ways to make money and generative AI seems to be its next bet.
Meta isn’t alone in diving into generative ads, several other companies plan to use them with systems like OpenAI’s DALLE-2 and GPT-3 to create marketing campaigns.
