IMSS’s 7th Day of Continuity of Health Services Achieves Goal: 200K Medical Actions and 35 Transplants Performed

• From April 14 to 16, transplants, Specialty and Family Medicine consultations, surgeries, detection of chronic-degenerative diseases and auxiliary diagnostic and treatment studies were carried out.
• As part of the conference, 35 transplants were performed: 20 kidney, 10 cornea, three hematopoietic cells, one heart and one liver.

In medical units and hospitals of the 35 Representation Offices of the Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS) in the states, 200 thousand 295 actions were carried out as part of the 7th Day of Continuity of Health Services, which allows strengthening the medical care in medical units of the three levels of care.

In this regard, the general director of the IMSS, Zoé Robledo, explained that from April 14 to 16, 95,561 Family Medicine consultations and 28,519 Specialty consultations were carried out; 3 thousand 123 surgeries, 68 thousand 319 detections of priority diseases, as well as 4 thousand 738 studies of diagnostic and treatment assistants.

“All this is what we do to recover services, to reduce waiting times at the IMSS and there is an army of people activated on weekends for this purpose; In total, 200,000 services, 173,000 had been scheduled and 200,000 were carried out, ”he said.

With this, it was possible to reach the goal of 115.6 percent, which prior to the event was 173,304 services, according to the specialties with the highest demand for Outpatient Consultation and Surgery at the Second and Third Level of care, as well as Preventive Actions. Integrated and Family Medicine consultations in the First Level.

He highlighted that in these three days, 35 transplants were performed, of which 20 kidney, 10 cornea, one heart, one liver and three hematopoietic stem cells.

In addition, nine cadaveric donations were made, four of them multi-organ, in the High Specialty Medical Units (UMAE) Specialty Hospital No. 2 of Ciudad Obregón, Sonora and Pediatric Hospital of the Western National Medical Center (CMN) in Guadalajara, Jalisco ; as well as the Zone General Hospital (HGZ) No. 1, Villa de Álvarez, Colima, and the Regional General Hospital (HGR) No. 1 of Querétaro.

In these interventions, there are sanitary biosafety protocols to reduce the chain of contagion by COVID-19, which includes taking PCR in recipient and donor patients.

In Baja California Sur, 4,354 PrevenIMSS Check-ups were carried out in First Level medical units; In addition, 153 consultations were granted in the specialties of Traumatology and Orthopedics, Ophthalmology and Internal Medicine at HGZ No. 1 in La Paz, as well as Traumatology and Urology surgeries at said hospital and the Ambulatory Care Medical Unit (UMAA) attached to the Family Medicine Unit (UMF) No. 34.

In Hidalgo, detections of cervical cancer, clinical examination of breast cancer, detections of diabetes mellitus and arterial hypertension were carried out, as well as PREVENIMSS Check-ups at the UMF No. 31 of Zimapan and the HGZ with Family Medicine No. 8 of Ciudad Sahagún; in addition to granting Family Medicine consultations at the indicated UMF and surgeries at HGZ No. 2 in Tulancingo.

In Nuevo León, health fairs were held at UMF No. 20 and 68 with the programming of mammography studies, detections of breast cancer, cervical cancer, arterial hypertension, diabetes mellitus, oral health, obesity and overweight; At the Second Level, consultations were granted for specialties with greater demand such as Dermatology, Gastroenterology, Rheumatology, Internal Medicine, Cardiology, Neurology, Psychiatry and Ophthalmology, in addition to surgical interventions.

Meanwhile, at the UMAE Hospital de Especialidades of the CMN La Raza, 76 surgeries were performed in the specialties of Angiology, General Surgery, Head and Neck Surgery, Reconstructive Surgery, Neurosurgery, Coloproctology; 1,52 consultations in various specialties and 309 studies and procedures in Nuclear Medicine, Imaging, and Graphic Records were provided.

In the Pediatric Hospital of the CMN Occidente de Guadalajara, 164 consultations, 19 surgeries and 199 auxiliary diagnostic procedures were granted; A liver transplant from a related living donor and organ procurement stand out, from which kidneys will be obtained to be transplanted in two patients in this unit, as well as the extraction of corneas.

At the UMAE Hospital de Especialidades No.14 in Veracruz, 10 ophthalmology surgical procedures were carried out, 28 magnetic resonance studies, 38 Cardiology consultations, 16 Reconstructive Plastic Surgery, 51 Ophthalmology and 65 Clinical Oncology.

With the foregoing, the Directorate of Medical Benefits ratifies the commitment to the beneficiary population to strengthen the quality and timeliness of care, strengthening the actions that guarantee access to health through the coordination of its regulatory areas and permanent link with the Decentralized Administrative Operation Bodies and High Specialty Medical Units.
